Licensure in Elementary Education, Physical Education, and MusicStudents seeking licensure in Elementary Education (K-8) should major in Education. . Students seeking licensure in Music-Vocal General; and Music-Instrumental (K-12); and Physical Education (K-12) should take courses in their specific majors and the professional education core courses.
Licensure in Secondary EducationStudents seeking licensure in Secondary Education (7-12) in Biology, Chemistry, English, History, Sociology, and Mathematics must take the Professional Education Core courses, as well as the method course required by the specific discipline. Students must pass courses with at least a “C”.
Requirements for Licensure in Secondary Education*Students pursuing licensure in secondary education must take ENG 236 and ENG 440 as their English Electives. These courses must be by the fall semester of the senior year.
**Students pursuing licensure in secondary education must use their general electives to complete the course sequence for licensure in secondary education. This includes EDU 420 and EDU 430 during spring of the senior year.
