Lane College is proud to reaffirm its commitment to excellence by spotlighting the 2025 class of 40 Under 40 honorees. These rising leaders—representing diverse industries and bold new visions—embody the very best of what it means to uplift communities with purpose and integrity. Their achievements reflect the true spirit of Esse Non Videri — To Be, Not to Seem — and we are honored to celebrate those who exemplify our values through authentic impact and leadership.


    Honorees

    Bryne McNeil — Class of 2008


    Bryne McNeil is a servant leader in the field of information technology with more than seventeen years of experience. His career blends professional excellence with a deep commitment to community impact. Bryne serves as a youth sports coach, Cub Scout volunteer, and mentor to emerging IT professionals. He is also the co-founder of the Northwest Arkansas Black Men’s Solution Summit, where he champions collaboration, growth, and purpose driven leadership. In every space he enters, Bryne works to uplift others and build a stronger, more connected community.


    Chasidy M. Jones — Class of 2016


    Chasidy M. Jones is a proud Lane College graduate, former Miss Lane College 2014, and a dynamic professional dedicated to excellence and service. She works as a Contract Project Utilization Analyst with the Chicago Transit Authority, the second largest transit system in the nation, and also serves as a Retail Fulfillment Specialist with Nordstrom. Chasidy is known for her resilience, discipline, and vibrant spirit. She describes herself as courageous, hardworking, determined, efficient, cheerful, energetic, fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and committed to representing Lane College with pride. 


    Dr. Danielle Cooper — Class of 2011


    Dr. Danielle Cooper is an educator, administrator, and literacy leader devoted to equity, student safety, and community empowerment. With a career rooted in advocacy and transformative leadership, she champions student centered decision making and works to create learning environments where every child can thrive. Dr. Cooper’s work continues to influence education policy, literacy engagement, and community partnerships across the region.


    Edward Sandy Lee Mitchell — Class of 2009


    Edward Sandy Lee Mitchell is a proud Lane College alumnus recognized for his commitment to leadership, service, and community building. He continues to uphold the values of Lane College through his dedication to excellence, personal integrity, and mentorship. His work reflects the legacy of Lane College and its mission to prepare individuals for service and leadership.


    Elon Cordero Brice — Class of 2010


    Elon Brice, a Jackson native and 2010 Lane College graduate, serves as a Regional Training Manager with Alcon. A member of the Beta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Elon also holds an MBA from Bethel University. He is an avid runner, a committed professional, and a leader focused on growth and community engagement. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.


    Jovonte Emari Brown — Class of 2020



    Emari Brown is a financial leader, real estate investor, and vintage automobile entrepreneur whose work spans the Southeastern United States. His business ventures focus on community revitalization, economic empowerment, and wealth building. Emari’s entrepreneurial vision demonstrates leadership, discipline, and a commitment to creating opportunities for others.


    Jaylyn Rochelle Smith — Class of 2019


    Jaylyn Smith is an STI Epidemiologist with the Georgia Department of Public Health, where she leads district wide efforts in managing and preventing sexually transmitted infections. She is also the owner of Mercy Vending Collective, a wellness centered vending company that promotes accessible health and self care resources. Jaylyn is dedicated to public health innovation, community education, and building healthier futures.


    Kandace Prather — Class of 2023


    Kandace Prather is a scholar achiever and proud alumna of both Lane College and Florida State University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in English from Lane and a Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition from Florida State, maintaining GPAs of 3.97 and above throughout her academic journey. Kandace embodies academic excellence, discipline, and a passion for teaching, writing, and mentorship.


    Keith Darrell Allen — Class of 2013


    Keith Allen is driven by a mission to ignite the potential of future generations. His work centers on helping individuals believe in their worth, overcome obstacles, and pursue paths of growth and fulfillment. Keith’s leadership is grounded in service, empowerment, and an unwavering commitment to community uplift.


    La’Garrious “LT” Taylor — Class of 2017


    La’Garrious LT Taylor is a Greenville, Mississippi native who now resides in Florida. A 2017 Lane College graduate and class vice president, LT is a member of the Beta Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Phi Beta Lambda, and the Masons. Known for his passion for helping others, LT continues to serve his community through mentorship, leadership, and faith driven engagement.


    Lakendra Ellison — Class of 2006


    Mrs. Lakendra Ellison is the owner of Ellison Full Body Detox and serves as a Self Determination Coordinator with the Department of Disability and Aging. A 2006 Lane College graduate, she is a dedicated member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc., a faith driven leader at West Bemis Missionary Baptist Church, and wife to Montrell Ellison. Her work reflects service, wellness advocacy, and community uplift.


    Marquita S. Gipson 


    Marquita Gipson is a loving wife, mother, servant leader, licensed therapist, mentor, and executive director. She is devoted to empowering individuals and communities through mental health advocacy, compassionate care, and transformational leadership. Her work centers on healing, support, and elevating the next generation of leaders.


    Marvin Frank Thomas Jr. — Class of 2015


    Marvin Frank Thomas Jr. is a transformative educator and servant leader committed to empowering communities through teaching, advocacy, and leadership development. His work reflects Lane College’s legacy of excellence, integrity, and service.


    Michael Allmond — Class of 2015


    Michael Allmond lives by the guiding principle, “To whom much is given, much is required.” His leadership, service, and dedication to professional and personal growth reflect this philosophy. As a proud Lane College alumnus, he continues to inspire others through discipline, purpose, and a commitment to community uplift.


    Ryan Spann — Class of 2011


    Ryan Spann is a Talent Acquisition Manager for Scout Motors and a native of Pontiac, Michigan. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and is married to fellow Lane graduate Olympia Glenn Spann. Together they are raising three children. Ryan’s work focuses on talent development, workforce leadership, and supporting the next generation of professionals.


    Sequoia Watson — Class of 2009


    Sequoia Watson is a Memphis native, award winning dancer, educator, entrepreneur, coach, influencer, and advocate. A graduate of Lane College and Strayer University, she has taught and mentored hundreds of youth through both classroom instruction and dance leadership. Founder of PoppinNPumps, Sequoia teaches choreography, techniques, and performance arts while empowering women and communities. She is a five time dance award winner, three time Brand Ambassador of the Year, a Top 20 Influential Leader in Tennessee, and author of the “PoppinNPumps: Resilience Journal.” Her work is rooted in fire, faith, and purpose.


    Shakayla Janelle Collins — Class of 2015



    Shakayla Collins is a Jackson, Tennessee native and elementary school teacher dedicated to inspiring young minds. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Lane College and a Master’s degree in Education from Union University. Shakayla is passionate about creating nurturing learning environments and serving as a role model for the next generation.


    Sheneca Richardson Williams — Class of 2010


    Sheneca Richardson Williams is a Professional School Counselor and Support Pastor who exemplifies Lane College’s values through Christ centered, trauma informed leadership. A 2010 graduate, she is committed to guiding students, supporting families, and uplifting communities through service and faith.


    Rev. Dr. Tiggs E. Washington — Class of 2012


    Rev. Dr. Tiggs E. Washington is a Buffalo, New York native and a proud 2012 Lane College graduate. He serves as a Presiding Elder, pastor, author, philanthropist, and social justice advocate. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Dr. Washington’s work spans ministry, leadership, and community empowerment, reflecting a lifelong commitment to faith and service.
